FIFIBEAR’S LAUNCHES DELUXE FROZEN ORGANIC BABY FOOD SPECIALIZING IN COMPLETE MEALS
By: Vegas Buzz Columnist Renata Lorenc

Marlee Marlin with Roxanna BinaLos Angeles, CA Organic vegetables and organic herbs prepared with love and packaged in perfect 4-ounce containers are about to make the lives of mothers around the nation much easier!

After becoming a mom for the first time, designer Roxanna Bina was frustrated not only by the lack of organic options for her new bundle of joy, but as her son grew, how difficult it was to find healthy, tasty options that were also convenient.

Enter Fifibear.  Felix, or “Fifi” as he is affectionately known to his parents, is the inspiration for Roxanna’s new line of frozen organic baby food.  With a French father and an artistic mother, Fifi’s palette is discerning, even at such a young age.  With an idea in mind, Roxanna started at her local farmer’s market, where she began to cull fresh produce and herbs from local, organic farmers and create her own delights for her tiny gourmand.

From her desire to provide quality, nutritious, tasty food for her son, Roxanna developed Fifibear’s, naming it after her inspiration—her son.  Now, using a certified organic production facility and with the help of a staff just as enthusiastic as she, Roxanna is producing what other moms have been asking her for: enough Fifibear’s to go around!

All products are created from fresh, organic produce and USDA certified beef, chicken and fish. After being cleaned, steamed, pureed, and made in a certified organic kitchen, Fifibear’s products are frozen immediately, which allows the nutrients and fresh taste to remain, without the use of preservatives.  Using herbs in lieu of spices protects the delicate stomachs of babies and the inclusion of flaxseed powder in all products provides alpha linolenic acids, a good source of iron and fiber and great for brain development!

Those hazy shades of winter are in for a rude awakening this year with the introduction of Hillary Flowers’ Winter 2006 collection. The eclectic designer/dance diva’s latest line of woman’s ready-to-wear apparel lit up the night during a recent fashion show held at the ultra chic Sol nightclub, located at 609 West 29th Street.
The events theme was color, and this hot young designer proved that she knows exactly how to use it: sexy, flowable knits, saturated in bold hues paraded down the runway to the sultry rhythms provided by DJ Lahner in what appeared as a fireworks display in the dead of winter. Her daring pieces are the epitome of New York nightlife and are perfect for a wild night on the town. Flowers designs are retailed out of Apollo Braun, located at 193 Orchard Street (corner of Houston) and at Tatiana, located at 111St. Marks bet. Avenue A and 1st Street. AS REAL AS IT GETS…

“Be realistic!”  How many times have we heard that reprimand from someone trying to curb our enthusiasm or manage our expectations?

Big confession: that admonishment makes my spine cringe.  I have always been a big dreamer, especially while I am awake.  If you combine aspiration with perspiration, the reality is that you can make a difference if you stay the course, and sometimes creating a new reality eventually has everything to do with being ‘unrealistic.’ I used to say, 'I sure hope things will change.' Then I learned that the only way things are going to change for me is when I instigate the change.  If we listened to reality, we’d believe that fashion is for thin people and there is no Santa Claus.  To quote John Sebastian, “Do you believe in magic?”  Well, all I can say is that overcoming reality often leads me to learning experiences both delightful and daring.

New York International Independent Film and Video Festival

China Club
November 2, 2007

Written by Katharine Heller

Event Producer Renata Lorenc with Host and Film Threat Magazine Actor to Watch Russ Russo It was a night of thrilling artistic integrity, budding young talent and questionable cocktails at this year's New York International Independent Film and Video Festival at the China Club.

The NYIIFVF was founded in 1993 by Stuart Alson, whose goal was to give unknown directors, actors and producers a chance to have their work be seen, without having to go through the red tape that other festivals such as Cannes, Tribeca and Sundance have become known for. That is not to say, however, that there is no screening process. And according to event producer Renata Lorenc, the festival has also turned into a strong venue for films and documentaries about important social issues. With over 250 features, shorts, animations and documentaries from over 60 countries, the NYIIFVF can boast to being the most diverse festival of its kind.
